It's officially springtime, and I am loving it! The snowdrop festival in Shepton Mallet really kicked it off for me, the town was buzzing- and the sun was shining.
I've started going out walking, and was most chuffed that I managed the 6km to Croscombe and back round Ham Lane last week. Getting out and about, and making better food choices has meant that I have lost 4lb in a fortnight. At my Weight Loss Challenge weigh in I also discovered that I have lost inches, and fat , and my muscle mass has slightly increased.
Getting out in the fresh air has done me the world of good. It's now time to stop procrastinating and get on with my next goal of de-cluttering and spring cleaning the house. I'm no domestic goddess, but I know I'll feel better once it's done.
I tend to make piles of piles, and move things from one pile to another- rather than actually sorting anything. Inspired by my friend Helen Reader, who breathed new life into our dwindling Friday market, I have decided to set up a stall this Friday 17h March ( from 9 – 1pm ) selling my nicest pre-loved dresses, coats and and shoes. My stall will also sell second hand baby & children's clothes and toys, from 50p to £5.
Whatever's left I will donate to charity- but please come along and grab a bargain. At 10am – I shall leave my hubby in charge of the stall, while I pop down the bottom of Town Street to the grand opening of Helen Reader's new shop “The Fairy Godmother”. It is going to be really magical, I'll be wearing my fairy wings, and blowing bubbles.
The town crier will be drawing the crowds, and Helen, in all her Fairy Godmother finery will be opening the doors to the towns first “Sparkly” shop. She actually hired Wayne “My Big Handyman” (Facebook/mybighandyman ) to paint the shop front window frames with glitter !
Inside promises to be just as magical, selling everything fairy related, and her custom handmade cards, gifts and ornaments. If Friday's are tricky for you, fear not. It's the next massive Artisan Market this Sunday 19th and the new shop shop will open from 10 – 3pm to coincide with the fabulous event , which last time felt 'busier than Oxford Street'.
Also, don't forget to pop into the new 'Emporium' right in the market place. The brain child of Ho Ho Ho!'s Barry Higgins now rents small retail units to local traders, check out the sand art kits for kids. See you there !
