I decided it was time for a massive clear out this week. With Wayne's new handyman business taking off, we need more room in the shed for tools and equipment, whilst I'd really like to create an office area, rather than balancing my laptop on top of laundry or the cat! Everyone does that, right? It all started out well, as we enthusiastically chucked broken bikes, old stereos and mouldy rugs onto the 'tip' pile. I was relieved not to disturb too many giant spiders, and not to discover a rats nest.
However, when it came to 'sorting' through the kids toys, things got complicated. Apparently , I absolutely cannot throw away any of Harry's hundred of plastic dinosaurs, even the babyish ones. Nor any of Rowan's cars, trains, planes, old drawings, dried up play-doh models, bottle tops, tic tac packets, or toilet roll tubes. Every single toy “Definitely will be played with again” I was assured. Eventually, my boys begrudgingly filled two bin bags with toys for a charity shop. The bribe of Ipad time and chocolates worked! De-cluttering is a bit like going to the gym for me. I don't look forward to doing it- but feel really great afterwards. I treated myself with a hair colour & cut at Leanne's roots. Feeling fab, I flounced home to show off to my boys. “You look great” smiled Rowan, “like a fashion start from the old days. In the 1980's , when TV was in black and white!” Wow.
